We know move-in day is already a lot to think about, so we want to make the packing part simple. Here’s a practical starting list — every home provides its own specifics on move-in, and ours is no exception, but this covers the basics people ask about most.
What to Bring
- Everyday clothing, plus at least one set of clean, presentable clothing for job interviews or appointments
- Toiletries and personal hygiene items
- Government-issued ID, insurance cards, and any paperwork related to your outpatient treatment provider
- Phone and charger
- Any current, properly prescribed medication, along with documentation from your prescriber
- Bedding and towels, if not provided (confirm with the specific home)
- A journal, book, or anything that supports how you personally process this stage of recovery
What Not to Bring
We enforce a zero-tolerance policy on weapons, illegal drugs, alcohol, and any unprescribed medication — none of these should come through the door, ever. For the full picture of what’s expected once you’re moved in, read our house rules and curfew policy, explained.
Don’t Assume — Ask
We’d encourage confirming a few things directly with whichever home you’re moving into: whether bedding and linens are provided, whether there’s a size limit on personal belongings given shared room space, and whether a vehicle is something to plan around. Every home’s answer to these can differ.
How We Handle This
We don’t leave residents guessing. Our NARR-trained house managers coordinate the move-in date directly and provide a full list of what to bring before you arrive — see what our referral process looks like for how that coordination happens, whether you’re coming to us through a referral or on your own.
