What to Expect: Understanding Sober House Rules and Structure

A sober living home is a voluntary, drug- and alcohol-free residence. However, maintaining a completely safe and supportive environment for everyone requires a strict set of house rules. Structure is not meant to be a punishment; it is the framework that helps men in early recovery rebuild healthy habits, accountability, and independence.

Here is what residents can expect when moving into a structured program like Springtime Living:

Curfews and Routine

A reliable routine is crucial in early recovery. Our residents are expected to be in the home between the hours of 6 AM to 11 PM, Sunday through Thursday. On weekends (Friday and Saturday), curfew is extended to 12 AM.

Active Recovery and Employment

Sober living is about moving forward. To live at Springtime Living, all residents must attend outpatient treatment. During the day, residents are expected to be at work, attending school, or participating in off-site recovery programs.

Household Contributions

Living in a peer community means respecting shared spaces. Residents must clean up after themselves, including putting dirty dishes in the sink and cleaning up after using the bathroom. Personal spaces must also be kept in an orderly and sanitary condition at all times.

By adhering to these guidelines, residents create a peaceful, supportive haven where everyone can focus on what truly matters: long-term sobriety.
