How We Handle Rule Violations

We know this is often the first question a case manager asks before referring a client, and we’d rather answer it directly than dance around it.

Our Policy Is Immediate Removal

We remove a resident from the home immediately when they break a core safety rule — including any use of drugs or alcohol. We don’t run a warning system or a probation period. We hold this line because every other resident in the home is depending on the same structure staying intact.

Why We Hold This Line

We understand this can sound harsh out of context, so we want to be clear about why we hold it. A sober living home only works if every resident can trust the environment around them. The moment we make an exception for one person, we put every other resident’s recovery at risk — and we’re not willing to do that.

How We Enforce It

We use random UA testing across every home, for every resident, without exception. It’s the mechanism that makes our zero-tolerance policy real rather than theoretical.

What This Means for a Referral

We think this policy is actually good news for a referral source: you know exactly what you’re placing a client into, with no ambiguity about how we’ll respond if something goes wrong. We’d rather be predictable and firm than flexible and uncertain.
